Apple released the third beta for iOS 12.1.1 on Thursday, Nov. 15. This update is not much of a surprise, as it comes just a little over one week after the release of dev beta 2. As with that beta, we expect Apple to release the 12.1.1 public beta shortly, possibly as soon as this afternoon.

As anticipated, 12.1.1 dev beta 3 does not bring much to the table, at least not for those looking for new features. Instead, dev beta 3 offers minor bug and security patches to iOS 12.1.1. For those reasons, we recommend downloading and installing the beta as soon as possible, even if the overall experience is much the same.

To download and update your iPhone to iOS 12.1.1 dev beta 3, you first need to be a registered developer with a valid configuration profile. If you have iOS 12's new "Automatic Updates" enabled, you can let the software update overnight. To download the beta right now, however, launch the Settings app, select "General," then "Software Update." Tap "Download and Install," then follow the on-screen prompts to download and install iOS 12.1.1 dev beta 3.

There are quite a few new features and changes to discover in iOS 12.1.1. Users will find upgrades to the FaceTime UI which includes the return of the Live Photo button. 12.1.1 also updates News on iPad, dual-SIM iPhones can turn off the nano-SIM account, the Apple Watch app icon now resembles the Series 4, VoLTE support for Sprint is here, as is the implementation of a TLS security enhancement.
