The new iOS 11 update provides an easy software-based solution to shut down your iPhone in case the power button, officially known as the Sleep/Wake button on all iPhone models except the iPhone X, goes bonkers. In addition to this, there's also a hidden setting that lets you instantly restart the device, and it's better than the "Bold Text" trick that's been around since iOS 7.

With a software-restart and a broken power button, you won't have to shut down the device the hard way and then connect your charger to it in order to turn it back on. All it takes is a few taps on your screen, and you won't have to worry about all the on-screen text being bolded when you get back up and running.

As with everything iOS, this hidden restart feature is incredibly easy to enable and access, giving you a convenient new option to reboot your device without relying on hardware buttons. We'll first need to enable AssistiveTouch to get the ball rolling, so head over to "General" in Settings. From there, tap on "Accessibility," select "AssistiveTouch," then toggle the feature on.

With AssistiveTouch now enabled, simply tap on it to open its window. From there, tap on "Device," then select "More." You can now perform a reboot on your iPhone by tapping on the "Restart" button that appears then tapping "Restart" on the confirmation prompt that follows.
